Sunset at Cottesloe
On the way back from that rehersal last night I picked up Jane and the dogs at the beach and we watched the sunset. It takes about 3 minutes for the sun to set here (lattitude and all that craic) and its amazing the amount of colours that bounce around the sky as it sets. Here is a picture i took on my cameraphone through a sculpture overlooking the sea.
Oh, the rehersal: It was good. The other musicians there were absolute legends, i felt very much the underdog there, the cellists (2) both have their own albums out, one of the guys writes film scores and the two violinists are legends here in Perth. So we started off with a few tunes at the start of the book, one of which being the hendrix tune purple haze, with an 8 bar viola solo at the start going along the lines of this " thwak thwak, thwak thwak, dunmh dunmh dunmh dunmnmnnmmmnmhhhhhh, dunmh dunmh dunmh dunmnmnmnmmhmnmhmh" etc. So, head down, full volume, I ripped clean in, it was one of those times where no matter how hard you try you just CANNOT play any louder; anyhoo, while I was focusing on this the singer dude, who was standing just out of my vision to the left started jumping up and down, and then kissed me on the head. Twice. I think I passed the audition.

Daylight Savings Time
Sundays Events...
We all took off to the dog beach on sunday to take Fionn out for a play with other dogs and he went mental, he was really excited by the hundreds of dogs there and got a bit overwhelmed. Here is Fin going for his first dip in the sea.
And here he is afterwards playing with his pet dog
This was one of our gigs on sunday, what a laugh. It was an itish day out, gaa games, face painting, irish dancers and us (set up under that gazeeeeeeebo). We were playing DURING a game, the game took place behind us as the crowd looked on, as you can imagine the interest in our performance was about zero. Hilarious gig. THEN the gazeeeeeebo blew away and an acid fueled boozed up rave DJ came to the rescue and explained in great detail exactly how hard it was to fix this gazeeeeeeeeebo and that there was no way we could do it, so about 30 seconds later, once we had it fixed, we waited till he moved off and had a great big laugh. Har dee har har.
And our last gig for the weekend happened here, the Irish Club in Subiaco. Its a nice place, really laid back gig with a few scoops thrown in too.

Guitar Shoppery
Here we are in Cosmic Sounds, a huge guitar shop in Perth, and Adam is trying out a brand new taylor guitar. Here we see him giving the guitar its annual tuning.....
It was a cool shop, guitars EVERYWHERE! All sorts of fancy cables, and devices too, including this plane hanging form the ceiling!
I know some sound engineers who should have this on their T-shirt.

New Gadget
My phone broke during the week, the bottom row of buttons stopped working which meant I couldn't dial anyone with a zero in their number, so I went into the local mobile shop and a few hours later came out with this beauty. Its a palm, so it does all the same stuff that my organiser/mp3 player does and its also a phone and a camera, so that is two less things to carry about the place. I am going to trial it tonight at our gig and run the interval music off it and through the PA system, so if anyone calls between 1 and 4pm irish time, dont be suprised if you end up speaking with an entire pub of people......
