Gigbag

It finally arrived, my yamaha gigbag

Its a softcase for a violin, light, waterproof and reasonable solid

The bow has a seperate compartment on the outside

Here is all the gear necessary for going through a PA system

I trialled it last night at two gigs, its really quick to pack and not heavy at all.

Raaaaaarrr

We took Finn to the museum to se the dinosaur exhibit yesterday, it was fantastic!

An allosaurus greeted us in reception. They were all animatronic and moved and roared away like mad.

Triceratops complete with baby triceratops hatchlings

And Finns favourite dinosaur the Stegasauras.

Ola blogfans

Hello bloggers, sorry its been a while, these last few weeks at school were hectic. On holidays now so you can expect more activity here.

Check this out, i ended up doing a few keyboard gigs this term, here is a photo of me playing with the junior concert band, the tuba player just got braced in that day and couldnt play so I ended up playing the bass part on a keyboard. It was even easier than playing the viola! Only one hand, 4 different notes and no dynamics!

And check out this bottle of wine I got as a gift, I think its an electrical conductor as he has two electrodes (batons)......

A blast from the pa.....present

Would you believe it! Some bunch of idiot vandals blew up our postbox last thursday night! It was 11pm. I was asleep, Jane said she heard a big bang as if something hit our window so I went out for a look, saw nothing and went back to bed. Following morning as I looked out the window I saw this pile of wood at the foot of where our postbox used to be. The roof was at the base of the post, the front bit with the numbers on was in Rays garden across the road and the back end was in the flower bed up by the house.

Here is the explosive, the police said it was the next one up from a firecracker, a thundercracker or something like that.

I am expecting a lot of mail at the moment, ebay purchases etc. so I quickly made a replacement postbox out of a cardboard box and duct-taped the number to the top. It worked, 30 minis later the postman posted mail in it.

Here is the substitute box again doing and admirable job of receiving bills and party invites.

Arisen from the ashes.....

So, the other day between gigs, I had half an hour to hammer it all back together. Out with the leatherman tool, the hammer and the drill.

And here it all is, a combination of screws and duct-tape (list of things i have made with duct tape) holding it together and at the end i had 3 left over bits of wood....hmmmm

Anyway here it is, right back to the front line, slightly bockety looking and bearing many the scorch wound. On account of its resurection i stuck a picture of a pheonix to the front.

End score: Vandals with explosives 0 - Charlie 1

Radio Charlie

I got a sennheiser wireless kit for my violin last week, its fantastic. It has a range of about 50 metres, and the belt pack can take an input from almost anything, i even ran my phone through it.

And its waaaaaaaaaaay smaller than the last time I used one, here it is next to the standard unit of measurement of gadget freaks , an Xbox 360 controller.

The good book part 2

Derrick called round for a few beers the other night and we made another book for book club. Here is Derrick, all set, book clamped and taped down and leatherman tool all fired up.

We used the regular blade, the serated blade, all the files, the scissors and the saw.

Here is the finished product, and a very happy book club member.

Give em an inch....

I am auditioning all the string players in the school for next years ensembles at the moment, its an arduous task. I made a poster with a ball of string on it, and put it next to the sign for wind auditions. Bit of a skit like, you know, string instruments, string, ja'know like.....??? All the kids were saying "Sir, why is there a picture of rope on the sign?". I weep for humanitys future.

May the force.....

So there I was, biggest star wars fan in Perth, walking down the road with a bak full of fish'n'chips when I noticed these two bucko's coming the other way/ Photo opportunity was a no brainer as they were as amazed with my r2d2 t-shirt as i was with their costumes. They had the padawan plats and everything. So we got some bystanders to take some shots, a que promptly formed outside the chipper of familes with their kids taking photos and everything, hilarious. The funniest thing of all though is that the guy on the left has a geen jedi SNORKLE!
