Thai Spelling.....
We all went out for a Thai feed last night after work. The Thai Orchid on 3rd avenue and beaufort was our Thai of choice. You can always tell if a resteraunt is good if the ethnic group the venue is aimed at is frequented by said ethnic group, and this place was staffed by a small army of Thai's. The food was AMAZING, really fresh and great flavours, but what really cought my eye was the Spring Rools and the Depp fried chicken pandai leaves.
In the pits...again
Yup its showtime, this time its Oliver. It is in the same place as Peter Pan from last year and Jane is in the band too.
An classic musical, the Dickensian epic depiction of Victorian England and its liberal observations on childcare and parenting.
Here we go, act 1 gets into full canter with a viola 20 bar rest, I like it already.
Here is the viola solo, unison with the singer so no room to move really, but still fun to play.

the greatest solo ever!
This is a short clip from what was the most epic of sessiuuuns, about 1am, the night of Liams 50th. Classic beer related tomfoolery in the key of G!

Some old photos
I found some old photos on my camera this morning. these were taken a few months ago jsut as the winter was kicking in.
This was about 3 hours north of Perth
And here are the local warnings, swooping magpies and falling limbs. I wonder if many swooping magpies were hit by said falling limbs? And if so, then please note the irony of not being able to read the warning! It should read "Beware swooping magpies, Beware falling limbs". Also, the reciprocal irony and international reflection of having the signs and paying no attention to the imminent perils, remind you of any GLOBAL FINANCIAL CRISIS happing recently???
Soakwell and beers
The patio area out the back of the house has been subsiding steadily for the last year so we decided to fix it up at the weekend. Mick was flown in especially and I called in the help of two other musicians (who else do you call when you need DIY work done....) also, Dan and Tristen.
Here is most of the paving removed.
Dan and Tristen compacting the new sand (which we stole from a nearby building site and put in Tristens boot, you know, Sand Theft Auto!
And here we are many hours and beers later with the finished product. We ended up using full kegs to bash in all the bricks. Beer, the solution to everything.
And here it is the following day, looking brand new.

Thanks Owen
the next few posts below are all taken from a selection of photos owen took whilst he was over here on his 48 hour Perth-a-thon. Its fantastic looking through them, seeing the place through a new set of eyes really is a refreshing perspective on the place which has become so familiar over the last 3 years, the things Owen took photos of were exactly the same things which impressed me when I first arrived in the place. Enjoy
