upgrades to the upgrades

Last week I pondered getting a basket for my bike as it comes in quite handy when doing the shopping, you know the way you would pick up some groceries then spend the cycle home with one bag of shopping hanging off one side of the handlebars and one on the other, vainly trying to balance going around corners without the front wheel tearing the bag. Well, the little clip I put on was so good I substituted it with two larger ones and a stronger set of cable ties so now I can carry loads of stuff, and as its in the centreline of the bike it doesnt effect the balance.

Check out what Im having for breakfast this week at work.

More upgrades......

It is coming into the autumn here so we get the occasional shower, so I felt it necessary to pack my all weather gear this morning on the way to school. Three cable ties and a keyring clip and away we go. (note no duct tape OR velcro was used.....)

Gig storage

Check it out, door to door comfortably in 25 mins, from my house to His Majestys Theatre in the city centre where I am playing in Oklahoma for a few weeks, and I can leave my bike backstage under a table whilst all the rest of the crew battle with inner city parking. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

short back'n'sides please

So there I was, playing away at a gig the other day, irish band stuff, really loud and lively atmosphere so i got stuck right, gave it absolutely welly and literally shredded my bow! Broke a few hairs at the start then a few more, then a few more, after the gig i looked down and the floor was littered with discarded bow-hairs, so I got the sound guy to turn me up a bit and it was easier to play after that.

Back on the register

I went and donated a pint of the finest O Negative this side of the Lee a few weeks ago and I got my donor card in the post yesterday. Its totally different here, the procedure is the same but all you get afterwards is a cup of tea and a few biscuits. Back when I used donate in Dublin you could rock up every 6 weeks or so and it was a pint for pint transaction basis, which led to manys the intersting stroll back to the office after the bi-monthly luncheon donation.

the sister trumps again

Margaret sent over a red-cross package which arrived yesterday, crammed with chipsticks and other goodies.

This was included, its a bunch of McCarthy stickers, one of which i promptly affixed to the front of my ride.

Kind of makes the bike look like a ferrari

the bike...

After lunch with the mother Jane went off to her gig and I went back to moms place to install an external sensor light, so i popped my bike in the back of her car.

A snug fit.

Here I am transforming it, after a youth of growing up with transforming vehicles it feels great to have a transforming vehicle as an adult!

The bike.....

There we go, 10 seconds later, all ready to roll

Even George had a go.

New screen

Well, ever since the tree self-pruned itself and landed on the house, we have been without a screen for our outdoor cinema, until now that is. I picked up this screen from the school's storeroom, it was broken so they gave it to me for nothing.

A quick bit of leatherman fixery later and lo and behold there we have it, a grand big retractable screen for watching movies on in the winter, right next to the fire.

the tree remnants

The ol tree has finally been disposed of, I filled up the second skip the other night and managed to salvage a few logs for our winter fire in the vestibule.

Oh Suzannah

We called up to Novembar again last night, the new burger place in Dianella, had a monster of a feed and a few beers, then played the owner a tune on my harmonica, pretty surreal!

Pedal board

My boss BCB 60 arrived in the post yesterday, its a great way of keeping all your effects pedals tidy and easy to transport.

It comes with pre-perforated foam mouldings you can fit your pedals into

Of course my RC50 was too big so I just a bit of velcro to secure it.

All nice and neat, set up and ready to rock.

pimp my ride

I got a little bag for my bike, its great for stashing away my hi-vis bib I wear when cycling around at night, and it also holds a really small bag which can expand into a really big bag, its all about the bags!

Here it is again, alternate angle. Very fancy.

And the finishing touch, a decepticon emblem...

Mickey Mouse Gig...

Here is the stage we were playing on last night in the zoo for the Disney gig. Great concert, about 3000 people there all loving the disney tunes.

Big screens all over the place, none facing the viola section though....
