Theme from a summer place

This is what happens when you leave musicians in a room full of empty beer bottles (which were emptied by said musicians....)

Fancy Dress at the Club

I played a gig at the Irish Club the other night, a fundraiser for the local camogie association, mighty craic all round

This gig was also the first outing of my 5 string, the sound was incredible BUT because we dont use monitors i couldnt really hear myself. Luckily this instrument comes with a built in headphone/monitor socket so I am gonna bring a pair of buds for the next gig. GREAT fun having the extra low string.

Hot Dang

This is the Bhut Jolokia, it is the hottest pepper in the world, it is 400, yes four hundred, times hotter than the hottest tobasco sauce. It is the primary ingredient in NOVEMBARS red face and runny nose burger. Here is a video of a guy eating a bit of one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tRq8ExAHzk&feature=related

An old bet

There used to be an old bet between various pupils of the cork school of music as to the shortest route to the Maylor Tavern in the 90's and thanks to the wonder that is google maps we can now settle the bet.

Remember that photocopier from a few years ago? Wrll check out this beauty I discovered a few weeks back, it does EVERYTHING, binds, folds, the works and its really fast too. I ran off a full orchestral print by section in about 20 mins. Fantastic!

Wilco-cake

It was Finns birthday at the weekend, he is 4 now, hard to believe how quick the years are flying by. Remember his cake from last year? Well this year he requested a cake in the shape of his dog, Wilco. So Jane and her creativity went into an icing infused flurry of activity and this is what came out.

The mould was two small square cakes, cut in to the shape of a dog lying down, then covered with fondant and shaped

Then the painting with chocolate with M&M eyes

Yum!

This week....

I played at JB O Riellys at a function celebrating its third consecutive year as leading seller of Guinness in all of australia. 125000.5 pints they reckon, the closest second sold 34000, a superpub in Sydney apparrantly. Here is Dan and Tristen enjoying a giant pint

I play with these guys now, the Limerick Lads, great band, mighty collection of old irish tunes and songs. Watch this space for a recording over the next few weeks
