Darts Night

Ross and Trevor called around the other night and we had a great evening of beer, darts and elevator impressions. Trevor brought a hat and I decided to put it to good use and do some gardening…..


 

Fridays gig

There are venues all over Perth like this. Secluded parks with beautiful architecture and landscaping (and viola players of course). This picture was taken as we were packing up, the bride getting photos taken on the steps. Picturesque stuff! 

Apres Gig Free Chocolate!!!!!

This place was right next door to the wedding we played at. It was an overwhelming experience.



I felt like that guy, you know, he went to a factory that made chocolate, won a ticket of some Wonka guy…..

 

Drive Through Off Licences

Grabbed a few beers on the way to a party the other day and came across this wonder of social evolution. The drive-through bottle shop. Its simple. You drive in. Shout out what you want, and what note you have ($20, $50 etc. so the dude can come to the car with the booze and the correct change) and then drive away loaded to the hilt with goon juice. Some of them even have express lanes! And they call the Irish drinkers!!!!!

My first home BBQ

Had my first BBQ hosting experience the other night, successfully didn't poison any of the guests, which is always a good thing! This is the BBQ, a beefmaster 2000 (its all about the fancy numbers after the name really) gas powered. It all tasted pretty good, even had some of it for lunch the following day! Its out in the back garden, right behind the bar

OK. So there we were on Saturday morning. About to tuck into breakfast in an outdoor café, about 11am about 30 degrees and I looked up and saw this thing. Yes, it’s a heater. A heater turned on at full blast! The mind boggles… 

Gone Fishing...

Hi guys.

What a weekend. Went for "1" with work last Friday night and woke up on the bosses couch. Pretty bizarre evening. Then went and played at a wedding, bought a kitchen table, ate some crazy korean food, half assembled a clothesline, drilled some holes in a wall and went diving for razorfish in shark infested waters. Odd way to shake off a hangover.

These are pictures from before and after the fishing. The razorfish are like massive muscles, pretty harmless creatures, only danger is that blue ringed octopus like to live inside them. A bite off one of them can cause a nasty rash and some slight death.

Other than that it was a pretty fun filled weekend, managed to get some more work done to the house and gradually got sunburned as I tried to shake off a combination hangover/sea sickness on Sunday!

This is Jane and I outside our new place. Its got a white picket fence, front garden, massive BBQ al-fresco area out the back and a bar. We have a lot of work to do to kit the place out but all the essentials are in place (such as the bar)….

Hooooner 4000

Just to explain the title, "hooooooning" is Ozzie for speeding, and 4000 is just a cool number. So the car is called the "Hooooner 4000"

We bought this car last night. Its a Mazda 121, not as cool as my old Punto (which was RED not PINK!!!) but much more nippy. 4 door with air-con (which is essential over here) no power steering, but its ok, its a pretty light car. It looks pretty sweet outside our new house. Ill have pictures of that over the weekend once we get everything unpacked and tidied away.

PS. Its got its own bar..... (the house, not the car......................yet)

This is the outdoor venue which we nearly played at, we were moved indoors last minute as it was 36 degrees and the audience were starting to melt. We played on this stage for the nightime gig, from 730-1130, and totally rocked the place!

Paddys Day gigs

Hi guys

HAPPY ST PATRICKS DAY to all.

I had a great time. Had my first gig with the new band "Black Velvet" as in "The Black Velvet Band", (clever huh?). We played to 1200 people on friday night, and to 40 on sunday night. Its tough at the top.... The gigs were 4 hours long which, which is the done thing over here, and along with all the usual classical stuff I was doing I think I chalked up 20 hours of fiddling over the weekend, which didnt help my back much!

Other than that it was a fantastic day out and fun was had by all.

Perth Skyline: part 2

This is the park right behind where I work, went playing Frisbee here the other day, could only endure the 38 degree heat for an hour, then had to go to the beach for a swim to cool down. 

Hospital food

Hi guys, I have been in hospital for the last week with a slipped disc. Im out now and feeling much better. The back is ok, no surgery needed, just lots of physio and not lifting heavy stuff for a while, which is a coincidence as I am moving into my new house in the next week, Janes brother has just moved house and Janes folks are moving house in about a month, ALL of which I cant help out with, so I have contracted in my buddy from college, Trevor Spring, to help with the fridge lifting and washing machine moving, all for the sum of one slab of beer. Bargain!

The hospital food was amazing (thank you medical insurance!!!!) the place was like a 5 star hotel! I would highly recomend it! (apart from the whole injury/sickness thing)

A days work done already...

Hi guys

Having problems getting pictures on the blog lately, computer acting up.

I ahd a gig this morning, yes this morning, before work. It was a violin and flute duet from 730-8 in a really posh hotel in town. It was for IBM and one of their corporate days. We arrived early and had a free all you can eat buffet breakfast, which was delicious, and had to play for a total of 6 minutes. Made it in to work on time, with a days work done already.

Not a bad start to the day!
