More Fishy Tales....
I am going diving for Abalone on sunday with Adam and his Steve Irwin-esque buddy (also called Steve). Abalone are a really rare and protected fish, the window for fishing is a few hours a day (from 5-7am i think) for 4 days of the year and you have to apply for a special licence and everything, but the best bit about it is that the minimum size for capture is exactly the same size as the bottom of a beer can so i guess we will be bringing a few of them!

I presume you know the value of their Shells Charles? Abalone is one of the finest materials for inlaying instruments around. My Guitar's Tree of Life inlay is made from Mother of Pearl and Abalone set in Ebony. Giggity giggity!
I didnt realise at the time. Yeah, they are worth a small fortune over here on the chinese resteraunt black market too! In Hong Kong I have been told that they are as valuable as gold! Suddenly that lunchbox of shellfish in the fridge has a lot more value! I have great pictures from the day out, ill post them up tonight when I get home.
