Penguin Island

Jane took me on a mystery adventure this weekend, on Friday we went to see DRAILON, Cirque De Soliels latest gig in Perth. If you ever get an opportunity to see a Cirque show, go for it, I can't recommend it highly enough. Then on saturday we went to Penguin island, and went dolphin watching. Here is Jane and Finn in the beach about to get the ferry across.

There were two boats, one was a high speed ex-navy super-dingy which was a bit like being on an aqua-rollercoaster (very bouncy) and the other boat which had a huge ramp at the back so you could roll off and go swimming with the dolphins. If you zoom in you can see an aqua-conga-line of swimmers chasing the dolphins around the bay. We were very lucky to have seen a calf no more than 2 days old and still learning to swim. The dolphins were not as social as usual because they were being protective of the new-born calf.

These were untrained 'wild' dolphins so no jumping or other such flipperesque activity, we were seeing them in their natural environment.

And here is Finn having another wildlife encounter with a baby bird at the back of the boat.
