Wiplstix Mod

On goes the 1/16th size wittner. My first time fitting a tailpiece. In fact my first time doing any of this! The new strings were a bit chubby for the nut so I had to delicately widen those slots AND I had to shave some of the wrapping off the G string on account of its overlapping of the fingerboard

So here is the finished article, ready to rock!

Plenty of clearance from the body of the instrument

Looking good!

Amazing that you were working on this a mere 2 days before I decided to get my wiplstix out and start trying to figure out how to get alternative strings on. I've had it for months, but am going overseas soon, so need to start figuring it out.

I see you are using Dominants. I use Dominants on my usual violin, and don't like the steel strings at all. I also have a set of Anton Breton perlon strings that Bill Whipple had kicking around and gave to me. How did you enlarge the nut grooves to fit the Dominants? And is it okay if the purple string is in the nut as shown in your pic? I read on Bill's site that someone used Helicores and an Olbigato E to improve the sound, but not sure I want to invest in a whole set of strings for what might be no difference at all.
