Christening Of Oliver Wittek

(apologies for photo quality)

We went to a christening yesterday of Janes schoolfriends son Oliver. Jane was the godmother. It was a lovely service and. I had a reading and everything. We all went back to their place afterwards for a party and they had a quintet! No not the musical type, the quintet is a quail is filled with glazed cherries then placed inside a boneless spatchcock & then placed into a boneless open range chicken. This is then placed inside a boneless duck & then placed into a boneless turkey which still has the wings and drumsticks attached. It presents like a magnificent turkey. Incredible!

Thomas the tank engine day

We had a kiddie day last week for Finn and Oliver, they are both 2 eyars old and are totally into trains so we had a thomas the tank engine themed event complete with a whole bunch of trains, a colouring competition, thomas cakes (which the kids helped to make), theme music and other songs from the show and champagne for the grown-ups

Here we see the two lads playing with the track and all was good for about a minute until....

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh. They didnt like having to share, but we convinced them it was ok to play with the same toys and the Finn proceeded to give Oliver EVERYTHING that was on the table, he kept loading him up with trains and cars, it was hilarious.

The latest skating recruit

Oliver came skating the other evening, he was very good. We are getting right into this skating lark, I still haven't figured out how to steer properly or stop without falling yet though.

Portable pint glass

Begone are the days when you rock up at a party with your cans of guinness and there is not a pint glass in the house so you are reduced to drinking your glorious bounty of stout from a teacup, filling occasionally and bereft of the visually mystifying settling sequence, behold the latest in fancy stuff here on coode street, the portable pint glass. A quick flick'o'de'wrist and away ya go. Great stuff.

Here is Finn and his partner in crime Oliver after a hard evenings playing around, kicking back watching a movie with a few pints of uncle Charlies homebrew. Somehow I can imagine these dudes in about 16 years doing the exact same thing....

Folically challenged

I went and shaved myself a great big novelty german moustache for the oktoberfest fancy dress party (come dressed as your favourite german, oliver came as a certain german dictator). Here is me with Anna. Look at that chin! I forgot i even had one. NOBODY in australia has seen me without a beard. So once the shock factor of that strategic shave wore off half way through the party i went one step further and gave myself the chopper reed look...

How wierd do i look now?!?!? Imagine my shock as i admired myself in the mirror this morning and was greeted with that visage! i was teaching about 30 mins later so i had to shave the rest of it off, for the first time in 6, nearly 7 years i can feel the breeze on my lower face area, and i have to tell ya its really disconcerting going to think about something and do my trademark stroke of the ol'beard and find a bare chin!

Compare that clean shaven feen with this happy, delighted to be hairy, bearded feen below.

As of 1 hour ago i am back on full hair growing mode!
